Concerts & Programs

The Friends sponsor a number of "must see" events each year. Our Winter Concert Series consists of five shows from October to February in the intimate main gallery of the Page-Walker Arts & History Center. Co-sponsored with the Town of Cary, our Starlight Concerts are held from June through August. These concerts, in the garden plaza behind the Page-Walker, are free and open to the public.

We also present a series of historic preservation speaker programs that you won't want to miss.

The Friends are delighted to host noted antiques appraisal expert, Wes Cowan, owner of Cowan's Auctions in Cincinnati, Ohio and star of PBS television series History Detectives, for this very special program!

Through popular television shows such as History Detectives and CSI, the public is learning more about the importance of historical and archival institutions and the role they play in maintaining historical records.

In what promises to be an enlightening and entertaining evening, Cowan will offer his unique perspective on the evolving role of these institutions, the changing landscape of the antiques market, and share some of the interesting adventures he's encountered.

Cost is $30 per person, including a wine, cheese and dessert reception.

Ever wonder whether that “priceless antique” you’re holding on to is really worth something?  Here’s your opportunity to find out!  Make plans to attend the Friends of the Page-Walker Hotel’s first-ever Antiques Appraisal Fair.

The Friends are delighted to welcome Wes Cowan and his team of appraisers from Cowan’s Auctions, who will examine your items and give a verbal appraisal of its value.  This is your chance to discover whether you’re sitting on a gold mine!

During the Fair, Cowan and his appraisers will evaluate:
    • Historical Americana, including political memorabilia, early photographs, documents and manuscripts
    • Decorative Arts, including pottery, glassware and china
    • Paintings, Sculpture and Works on Paper
NOTE:  fine jewelry, stamps, coins and firearms WILL NOT be appraised.

When bringing in an item to be reviewed, please include any related handwritten or typed identifying information about your collectible.  Rather than transporting a large piece of furniture, bring a drawer and/or a photograph.

Cost is $10 per item. Each person can have up to three (3) items appraised.

To avoid long lines and delays, tickets to this event will be sold in advance in 30-minute intervals.

TICKETING TIME SLOTS ARE SHOWN BELOW THIS DESCRIPTION.

Little Windows creates a mix of Appalachian and Irish music, and traditionally-based originals, with a special focus placed on unaccompanied ballads. They also explore the spiritual nature of song and harmonic sound.

Mark Weems and Julee Glaub tour together nationally and abroad with a focus on the art of the pure voice with tight harmonies in traditional songs.
